Mosman is a suburb on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, 8km north-east of Sydney’s CBD. It is the administrative centre for the local government area of the Municipality of Mosman.

Located on Sydney Harbour, Mosman is a smart yet relaxed suburb offering a rich cultural life surrounded by bushland. Boasting spectacular views thanks to its elevated position, Mosman is situated between Taronga Zoo and the harbour beach of Balmoral. Other harbour beaches include Chinamans, Obelisk Beach and Cobblers Beaches.

The following localities are included in Mosman – Balmoral, Beauty Point, Clifton Gardens, Georges Heights, Spit Junction and The Spit.

Mosman is primarily a residential suburb, with Federation era houses dominating. Other housing styles include Californian Bungalow and modern townhouses and apartment buildings.

Mosman shopping centre is located along Military Road, featuring boutiques, cafes and restaurants. There is also a small shopping mall at Spit Junction, featuring a supermarket, grocery shops, bookshop, gift shops, cafés, health practitioners, and offices. Mosman has several entertainment venues and hotels.

Schools include Mosman High School, Mosman Public School, Beauty Point Public School, Middle Harbour Public School, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Primary School, Mosman Church of England Preparatory School and Queenwood School for Girls (four campuses)

Mosman is a short ferry ride from Circular Quay and is well served by ferries and buses. Royal North Shore Hospital and Mosman Private Hospital are close by.

There are many houses of worship and several sporting clubs including football, rugby, cricket and rowing.

Mosman’s cultural highlights include Shakespeare By The Sea, a summer outdoor event held at Balmoral Beach, and the annual Mosman Art Prize.
